Before a vacant property is occupied again, its gas appliances and flues may need inspection. SafeSite Facilities can help arrange gas safety checks by a Gas Safe registered engineer as part of a managed change of tenancy or return to use.
Clear records for the next occupier
For rented accommodation, landlords have defined duties for gas appliance maintenance, annual safety checks and providing the gas safety record under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. A copy of the record must be given to a new tenant before they move in. A new tenancy does not itself reset the annual check date, but a further check may be appropriate if there is concern about tampering or damage during a vacancy. Current gas and electrical safety records will also be needed for the new Private Rented Sector Database.
