Mental health is a serious concern in the construction industry, where long hours, job security and a “tough it out” culture often discourage works from seeking help. There is urgent need to address mental health, reduce stigma and build more supportive workplace environments.
At SafeSite Facilities as a part of our OneTeam philosophy, all SafeSite line managers are trained to be Mental Health Champions. The goal of this is to encourage openness regarding mental health, to create a working environment conducive to positive mental health, and encourage team members to seek assistance if they ever feel it’s needed.
With World Suicide Prevention Day, below highlights some of the shocking statistics of suicide and bad mental health that has affected people in the UK and especially within the construction industry, and also what the signs are if someone is struggling with their mental health and how to help.
If you or someone you know is struggling with Mental Health, don’t be discouraged to reach out to someone to chat.
