WATER FILLED BARRIERS

Water-filled barriers are plastic safety barriers which can be filled with water (or sand) to increase their overall stability. The Novus barrier for example weighs just 25 kg when empty but 180 kg when filled with water. Water filled barriers offer an excellent, highly durable above ground perimeter solution. Most models can also be used with mesh or hoarding panels.

Fence and hoarding panels are an excellent way to increase the height and security of water-filled barriers .You can learn more about the fence and hoarding options available to you by clicking here. The only water-filled barrier which is not compatible with fence panel is the RB1000 barrier.

Our barriers are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which has a high strength-to-density ratio, making them very durable.

No, these barriers do not come with ground fixing capability. However, all of our barriers are designed using very durable materials and have been successfully wind tested. Once filled with water, they cannot easily be moved.

Some of our barriers, such as the RB22, are crash tested.  This barrier is designed to withstand the impact of vehicles travelling up to 50 miles per hour, which means the RB22 is ideal for use on highways or by roadsides where works are underway.

Depending on which filled barrier system you choose, each barrier holds a different amount of water and should be filled to the marked water line. Please check the specification datasheet on each product page to find out how much water your barrier should hold.

All our water filled barriers (apart from the RB1000 barrier) allow fence attachments, which slot in easily to the top of the barrier, for extra security and safety. You can choose from mesh or solid fence panels and many of our barriers also allow for the addition of either vehicle or pedestrian gates for access control at preferred points in the barrier wall.

Most of our water filled barriers have slots at the bottom for fork lifts so they can easily be moved using machinery when filled. When empty, our water filled barriers can be moved around by hand.

In accordance with theDepartment for Transport’s Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice your safety zone must be marked off with cones and/or barriers. Warning lights should be placed where necessary i.e. on roads with a speed limit of 40 mph, during the hours of darkness, or on unlit roads. We are however able to add reflective strips to barriers if you require.

If the barrier is correctly filled to the marked waterline, there will be enough space left inside for the water to expand if it freezes. They are designed for all weather conditions.
