Hoarding and Fencing Team Leader

Accountable to: Contracts Manager

Salary: £12.50 – £15.00 per hour + overtime pay

Job Purpose

Safesite Facilities is looking for a Hoarding Installation Team Leader to install External Fences and Hoarding around our client’s sites, as part of a team. If you have a labourer that you normally work with, they will be considered for a role as a labour only subcontracted team member. The candidate(s) will ideally be based near our Headquarters in West Sussex, but this is not essential as it is a site-based role which will entail implementing installations and delivery of Fencing & Hoarding to our client’s sites nationwide.

Principle Duties & Accountabilities

The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time in order to meet the needs of the company, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:

  • Running a two-man team and prepared to go the extra mile. Ideally you will have experience in this area, but mindset is more important for this role as full training will be provided
  • To carry out a range of tasks on various sites such as erecting and dismantling timber hoarding, installing and dismantling temporary metal fencing panels and plastic barriers.
  • To load/unload equipment
  • To comply with specific Risk Assessments and method statements for construction activities
  • To adhere to Company Policies, Codes of Practice and carry out the work in a safe and effective manner
  • To liaise with customers at site level effectively and promote customer satisfaction
  • Attend weekly/monthly team briefings as required
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and that actions taken do not endanger yourself or others
  • Co-operate with management and ensure all works are carried out to a high-quality
  • Wear all PPE as required by company procedure
  • Inspect and report daily any defects to tools and equipment directly to the Contracts Manager
  • Report any hazards, near misses, accidents, incidents as soon as possible to the Contracts Manager
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping
  • To carry out any other duties appropriate for this post


Role Demands

The role requires the post holder to be physically fit and able to lift and carry equipment following Health & Safety procedure. The role may require working antisocial hours and on occasions being away from home for a few days. The role requires good knowledge of construction services including CAT Training and understanding services preferable. The role will require the candidate to have a full clean driving license.


Level of Knowledge & Experience


  • Proven experience in a similar role would be an advantage
  • CSCS card is a basic requirement (preferably Blue Card)
  • SSSTS or SMSTS for the supervisor role will also be required
  • Full clean driving license
  • Any of the following accreditation would be an advantage/preferred:
    • NPORS
    • IPAF
    • PASMA
    • CAT Scanning
    • emergency first aid
    • fire warden/marshal
    • CPCS Excavator/Telehandler
    • Previous groundwork/carpentry experience



  • Ability to gain trust and respect of team members and customers to develop relationships

  • Physically dextrous to handle loading and unloading tasks
  • Numeracy – Working with numbers to perform calculations
