Distribution Yard Supervisor

Warwick, Warwickshire

Accountable to: Warehouse Manager

Salary: £13 – £15.00 per hour

Location: Warwick

 

The Role

The Distribution Yard Supervisor is a senior member of staff responsible for supporting the Warehouse Manager and the Deputy Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of the yard. This will include supervising team members, delegating tasks, and contributing to the smooth running of the operations at the yard.

 

Health, Safety & Environment

Be familiar with and demonstrate a commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety & Environmental Policies. Ensure that all relevant information contained within these policies is communicated to staff and sub-contractors prior to working on site. Ensure that all site operatives work safely and to a high standard maintaining up to date knowledge of all hazards and risks on site.

 

Key responsibilities

The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time in order to meet the needs of the company, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:

  • Support with overseeing the day-to-day activities of the distribution yard
  • Coordinate deliveries and ensure stock is delivered on time either into or out of the yard
  • Monitor stock levels and distribution operations
  • Regularly inspect and monitor maintenance of the site along with Health & Safety requirements
  • Liaise with office-based operations team to maintain adequate and safe levels of stock
  • Supervise team members to ensure stock is safely unpacked, cleaned, washed and branded correctly, then re-packed and ready to be despatched
  • Operate forklift as necessitated and carry out appropriate checks, and ensure appropriate checks are completed by all authorised drivers
  • Allocate resources effectively
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members
  • Ensure that all operational procedures are followed to ensure the safety of employees and visitors to the site

 

Role Demands

The role requires the post holder to be able to lift and carry equipment following Health & Safety procedure. The role may require working antisocial hours on occasions.

 

Level of Knowledge & Experience

  • Warehouse/yard work experience preferably in a supervisor or team leader role
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and the requirements in a warehouse environment
  • Demonstrable experience of supervising staff
  • Forklift operator trained
  • First Aid Trained (Desirable but not required)
